Where We Start

Every Door Replacement Starts With a Look at the Opening

Maybe your entry door has never looked right. Maybe it does not close properly, or you have noticed soft or damaged wood around the frame. Each situation is different, so we first look at the door and opening to understand what you actually need.

Exterior Doors

Exterior Doors, Fit to the Opening

Most of our work is exterior. A new front door changes how your home looks from the street, but it also has to fit the opening and the surrounding conditions. We measure in person before ordering the door.

That includes entry doors, French doors, Dutch doors, Steel doors and doors with sidelights or transoms. We also handle patio doors and sliding door units where the opening calls for them.

Patio & Sliding

Patio and Sliding Doors

A patio opening has its own threshold, seal, and weatherstripping concerns. A sliding door needs to operate cleanly and close properly, not just look new on the first day.

We look at the existing opening before choosing the unit and planning the installation. If you are replacing a patio door or considering French doors, this is the right place to start.

Interior Doors

Interior Doors and Jambs

Interior door replacement is often part of a larger home improvement project. You may want a new interior door because the existing doors look dated, the jambs are worn, or the rooms no longer feel finished together.

A slab-only job can make sense when the existing jamb is sound and still looks right. A prehung unit is the better choice when you want everything new, or the jamb also needs replacing. We install swinging door units, barn doors, closet doors, bypass doors, bifold doors, and pocket-door configurations.

When the Opening Decides

Some Openings Need Looking at Before a Door Is Chosen

Damaged and rotted door openings

Rot in the existing structure, water damage on an adjacent wall, or a soft floor near the threshold can change the job. A warped door, air gaps, or one that no longer closes can point to the same issue.

We check the opening before we set the new unit. If the surrounding structure needs work, we address it as part of the replacement.

Correcting a failed installation

Sometimes the problem is not the new door itself. It is the opening, the jamb, or the way the unit was set. We assess the dimensions, the frame's condition, and how the door closes before deciding what needs to change.

That work is especially important in older homes, where the original opening may not match a standard unit. The person who measures your opening is the person who installs the door.

Oversized and historic doorways

A curved entry, a nonstandard size, a historic home, or an opening that has moved out of square can make a standard replacement plan the wrong fit. We review the actual dimensions and jamb condition before selecting a new door.

We do not assume a stock unit will solve it. The opening decides what belongs there.

Replacing a door before you sell

If you are preparing to sell, the entry is one of the first parts of the house a buyer sees. A worn exterior door can distract from the work you have already put into the rest of the home.

We can help you decide what needs to be replaced at the opening and what does not. If the existing door is structurally sound, closes and locks well, and has no leaks, warping, or cracks, Bryan may tell you not to replace it yet.

One Specialist Through the Work

One Person, Start to Finish

This avoids the common re-order loop when a door is chosen from a homeowner measurement and doesn't fit the opening. Bryan handles the estimate, measures the opening, helps with material choices for that location, orders the door, installs it, and removes the old door and debris.

Standard on every job: custom fitting to the pre-measured opening, sealing the perimeter, and installing the lockset, hinges, and threshold where ordered. Existing alarm contacts are transferred to the new door. Painting, staining, and any extra work to correct damage found during install are not part of that scope.

Our labor carries a one-year warranty, plus the manufacturer's material warranty of five to ten years depending on the door. Bryan holds an active California door specialty license, so door work is what he is licensed and accountable for.

Whether a permit is needed depends on the work and your city. Bryan determines that for your opening.

Next Step

Start With the Situation at Your Door

You do not need to know every part before you call. You only need to know what is bothering you about the opening, whether it is appearance, fit, damage, or the way a previous installation is working.
